Hi Everyone,
I was just reading an article in the LA times titled "Hospital group rejects system and cashes in" and came across a couple of quotes I had to share.
The author of these quotes:
Dr. Prem Reddy, CEO of Prime Healthcare Services, Inc.
"Patients, he said, may simply deserve only the amount of care they can afford."
Really? So only the rich deserve to live. While the middle class and poor deserve to die?
And
"Why is it in Healthcare we expect to have the same?" he asked. "It's an entitlement mentality. Why aren't the same people asking why everybody shouldn't be eating the same foods, of have the same clothes or same homes? Those are as essential services as healthcare."
Interesting. I thought healthcare had to do literally with life and death? I don't think everyone wants to live in a 50 bedroom monstrosity, nor does the idea of eating fish eggs sound appealing, or wearing $5,000.00 suits. I guess my simple expectations of life means nothing to a man who can fly from his home to his office via helicopter everyday and think I should die because I can't afford to get excellent healthcare..
Oh by the way, did I mention Dr. Reddy is a Republican and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger had a fundraiser held by this man in September and raised $230,000.00?

Peace!
